Current and Prospective Students
The Graduate College grants waivers to accompany most fellowships, including: (a) fellowships funded by the Graduate College; (b) fellowships paid from departmental endowments or trust funds received by the University; and (c) fellowships granted to individual students by agencies outside the University, such as the Fulbright program. In addition, as part of its administration of graduate student affairs, the Graduate College has authority to grant waivers in exceptional cases. Waivers are provided automatically for graduate students with waiver-generating appointments. Those waivers are described within the Tuition Waiver Policy, which outlines campus policy, including information about base-rate waivers and reimbursements of tuition waived.

How to Apply for University Fellowships
The incoming student's application for admission, submitted to the graduate department, ensures consideration for all fellowships and assistantships administered by the University. Current students interested in fellowships should talk directly with their departments. For more information, read the bulletin on Financial Aid for Graduate Students, which includes information on Fellowships Awarded in National Competitions.
