The HDF Group is a non-profit corporation located in the South Campus Research Park. We have an immediate opening for students or other part-time professionals to do system administration for Linux systems. A research assistantship is possible for qualifying candidates.
Responsibilities: Install and configure new systems. Apply OS and software package updates via system update software. Install and maintain up-to-date software packages: Meeting Maker, Bugzilla, Subversion, compilers, license managers, backups, etc. Build software packages from source as needed. Create and maintain documentation of system administration procedures, computing infrastructure services, and other information needed by administrators and users. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot and resolve user problems.
Qualifications: Required: oLinux system administration and software building experience. oExperience with Red Hat or other RPM based Linux distribution. oAssociate Degree or equivalent. Desirable: oExperience with Solaris system administration. oExperience with Linux integration with AD or LDAP. oC Programming experience.
Depending on applicant's experience and qualifications, this position may be either a research assistant or graduate hourly position. Exceptional undergraduate students may also apply. We also welcome people who are seeking part-time hourly work to apply.
